Rules on How to Declutter your Home

Simple rules to follow on how to declutter your home. The first step would be to admit that there is clutter in your home. Some people feel their possessions are not clutter. They actually believe that they need everything that is there cluttering up the home. When there is clutter, in most cases at some point many people do not even know what they have and what they don’t have. When looking for an object like a roll of duct tape, and cannot find it because of the clutter, many times we will go out and buy it again which now adds to the clutter and makes the problem even worse.

To declutter your home you will need to begin in one room or one area of a room or closet. Once you concentrate on a certain area, try and stay concentrated and focused there. To move from area to area will just move the clutter around.
Preparing for declutter with several large trash bags, some cartons, labels, and markers is another rule to be followed. As you go through stuff, decisions must be made then and there as to the necessity of keeping the items or throwing them out. Consider having a garage sale to sell the items which are in good condition and make some extra money; that can be a strong motivator. Some items are too good to get rid of even though you may not have use for it. Make different piles for garbage, memory and personal items, and garage sale items.

As you go through the clutter you will begin the decluttering process even if it is slow at first. Any headway of decluttering will be your incentive to continue. It is a slow process when the clutter has been there for years or it has been brought from a previous home. The rule is to start by making a conscious effort to get rid of the items that are not being used or haven’t been used for at least one year. There are groups that offer classes or decluttering meetings to help the each other since it has reached epidemic proportions. Going to one of these groups to get hands on experience is not a bad idea and then help someone who suffers from clutter to learn how to declutter their home.

Natural Cleaning Products

With many people having allergic reactions to the different chemicals being used to clean various parts of a home, natural cleaning products have become more popular to use. When these products were first introduced, they were tough to find but with the internet and more natural health food stores opening each day, the natural world of cleaning is growing.

Products like Nature’s Miracle which can be used for pet accidents can also be used for human and household messes. The brand Method which can be found in stores like Target or Bed, Bath, and Beyond is not a fully natural cleaning product, but does not use as harsh chemicals or smells like Ajax. Everyone wants to live in a clean home and not all can afford a weekly housecleaner to come and clean each week.

If the allergy to cleaning supplies is not internal where when the person breathes in the chemicals, they do not begin serious ill, there are some precautions to take. A cleaning mask can be worn or rubber gloves without any powder to protect the skin. Windows can be opened or if the bathrooms have a ventilation system which can be turned on before, during, and after to allow air flow to be consistent. If none of these options work, making your own natural cleaning product may be the best option.

Cleaning Products Review, Cleaning Products Comparison, Cleaning Products Evaluation

There are numerous cleaning products being sold in today’s market that perform the same. At least 15 years ago, there was basically one cleaning product for each surface. Furniture polish, bleach, window cleaner, floor cleaner, bathroom cleaner; the comparisons of cleaning products can be found on websites to determine which product will work best for your furniture needs.

Due to the various companies producing similar cleaning products, a person needs to evaluate which version works best in their home. Comparing these products can be done by the individual consumer or by reading reviews in magazines like Better Homes and Gardens. The manufacturers will advertise their cleaning product as the best one to buy but we know it is only advertising till we put it to the test. As consumers, we need to try different cleaning products to find out which work the best.

If we are looking for a window cleaner to clean not only windows, but to clean mirrors as well without streaks, trying Windex or Lysol’s version is the only way to evaluate the product. Floor cleaners on vinyl or ceramic should clean the floor without leaving any sticky feeling. A floor cleaner with bleach should not make a white floor yellow as some do. Bathroom cleaners should be able to remove soap buildup on tile or fiberglass tubs, as well as showers without the need for heavy scrubbing if cleaned weekly. Some of the house brands that are sold in discount stores and supermarkets are very inexpensive but do they do the same job as brand named products. The only true way to evaluate the product is by trying it. Not every brand name cleaning product works the best, as not every off brand product does not do the job. As usually, it is up to the consumer to do their own cleaning product comparison and be the judge as to what works and what doesn’t work in their home.
